ICSI infertility treatment or Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is a form of assisted reproductive technology for treating infertility.
Collection of Sperm in ICSI Infertility Procedure
When it is not possible to collect the sperm through masturbation, the sperm can be retrieved non-surgically from the testes or the epididymis.
- In order to go through such ICSI , the woman is given regular injections and close monitoring for two weeks prior to the retrieval of eggs
- The mature eggs are collected with the help of vaginal ultrasound guidance
- The embryos are selected and placed in the uterus using a catheter
- If there are spare embryos, they are frozen, so that they can be used for future attempts if necessary.
