My problem was that my egg reserves were depleting as I am over 40. I had 3 attempts at IVF with the last one being successful, which was at Dr Malpani’s clinic. Dr Malpani was so helpful, he would answer all my email queries speedily and once we had travelled to his clinic in Mumbai, we were dealt with kindly and promptly.

Here is my story. My first attempt at IVF was with another consultant in Mumbai in September 2006, I only produced 1 follicle which did not fertilise. I was heart broken. Then we decided to try a top IVF clinic at Harley Street in December 2006. Everything was going well; I had produced 7 follicles, 5 of which fertilized. I had 3 embryos implanted inside me using the ICSI method. I was devastated to find out none had implanted. The treatment in London was very expensive and we weren’t sure whether to try again or not, but my consultant assured me that it was still possible to get pregnant at my age and to try again.

I was getting very disheartened at this point. My husband and I decided we would have one last attempt. We knew the only way we would stand a good chance of getting pregnant would be to have more than 3 embryos implanted inside me, so we decided to start the injections here in London and then to travel to India to have them implanted. I had been discussing my procedure with Dr Malpani via emails and he had agreed to help me.

In March 2007, when my hormone levels were just right, I started the hormone injections again. I produced more follicles this time, all in all around 11 follicles. Just before releasing these I travelled to Mumbai to complete the IVF process at Dr Malpani’s clinic. Seven eggs fertilised and I had all seven implanted. I then travelled back to the UK. A few weeks later was delighted to find out I was pregnant. Today I have a beautiful baby girl. She was born naturally and is very healthy and gives immense pleasure to both my husband and myself.

We would like to thank Dr Malpani and his wife, together with his wonderful team for making our dream come true. We are now trying for our second baby; if it does not happen naturally we will definitely be seeking treatment from Dr Malpani again.
