Azoospermia Treatment – Understanding the Treatment before Exploring Your Options
(Monday, October 07, 2014)
Summary: Azoospermia treatment is based on the cause of the condition. Since there are many different causes of the condition, treatment can only be recommended after a complete diagnosis of the condition and identification of its cause.
Azoospermia treatment can be challenging, therefore it is important to seek medical help from an infertility specialist for your treatment. Azoospermia is a condition in which a man's semen does not contain any detectable amounts of sperm. Though the condition affects only about 1% of the male population, it is responsible for about 20% of male infertility.
Azoospermia treatment may depend on the type of condition. There are two types.
1. non-obstructive azoospermia: In which the body is unable to produce any sperms.
2. The second is obstructive azoospermia: A condition where there is an obstruction in the male reproductive tract.
This way, though sperms are produced, they are not ejaculated and therefore the semen does not have any traceable quantities of sperms. Posttesticular azoospermia is an obstructive type azoospermia. This is the most common type of azoospermia, in which the sperms are produced, but a blockage in the genital tract prevents semen ejaculation. Posttesticular azoospermia may be caused by a congenital absence of the vas deferens, cystic fibrosis, idiopathic epididymal obstruction, and infection or scarring due to a vasectomy or accidental injury.
Sometimes, men may experience idiopathic azoospermia, which is a condition in which the cause of azoospermia remains unknown.
Azoospermia Treatment
Azoospermia treatment is often based on the medical condition responsible for it. The treatment options, therefore, depend on the specific diagnosis.
