Causes of Infertility

Infertility refers to the problem of not being able to become pregnant, even after trying for a year or more. Successful treatments include assisted reproductive technology, or ART, such as In Vitro fertilization procedures. It need not always be a woman’s problem, as both men and women can be the cause of the infertility. If the sperm count in the man is too meager or if the movement of the sperm is not enough, these could lead to infertility as well. In women, blocked fallopian tubes and endometriosis can also be the causes.

Treatment Options - ART

Infertility can be treated with medicines, surgery or through assisted reproductive technology, as well as through artificial insemination. These treatments can also be used in combination, depending on individual situations. ART consists of using different methods for assisting reproduction in couples that are infertile. For instance, in the In Vitro fertilization procedure, the eggs are removed from the body of the woman and are combined with the sperm from the male. The embryos are then put back into the body of the woman.

Criteria for Success

The success rates of In Vitro Fertilization procedures depend on various factors. The age of the female partner is important and so is the basic cause related to the infertility problem. It is important to select the right type of clinic, such as Malpani Infertility Clinic. There are also various types of ARTs conducted.

Most Effective

In Vitro Fertilization is considered to be the best and most effective among Assisted Reproductive technologies. The procedure uses the eggs of the woman concerned, but if these are not available, donor eggs from another woman, which have been previously frozen, can also be used. In the same way, donor sperm or frozen donor embryos can also be used in ART. The procedure is generally used in cases where the fallopian tubes are blocked or when the number of sperms produced or sperm count in the man is less.

Infertility can be traced to many factors and can be a defect in both the male and the female partner. ART or assisted reproductive technology offers the best means of treating infertility through In Vitro Fertilisation procedures.
