How can we improve the chances of embryo implantation ? What can we do to try to enhance the chances of an embryo becoming a baby ? One option is called ZIFT - zygote intrafallopian transfer, or tubal embryo transfer, in which we transfer the embryos directly into the fallopian tube. Since the fallopian tube is a far better place for a Day 1 or Day 2 embryo to be ( as compared to the IVF lab incubator or the uterus ! ), the pregnancy rates with ZIFT are higher than with IVF. However, it does require access to an Operating Theater; and also a surgeon who has the skill and expertise to do this procedure. Very few IVF clinics in the world have the technical ability to be able to offer this advanced technique. In this video, you can watch how deftly and quickly Dr Anjali transfers the embryos into the fallopian tube for a ZIFT.
